Clapton Road Signs

This was the first thing that made me think of doing a blog. I remember reading once that the 'NE' postcode district was merged into the 'E' district way back so took a snap of this road sign. I've recently found out that that this actually took place in 1866 under advice from Anthony Trollope no less, making this sign 144 years old. I find that hard to believe, but there we are. Whilst walking around I noticed another one and apparently there's also one on Victoria Park Road. Watch this space

    There used to be a nice old road sign on Atherden rd in Lower Clapton, but some philistine wrote to the bloody council and got a new soulless sign to replace it.
    shame really.
